Athens among Top 10 MICE destinations in 2022

Athens ranks 8th in the world as a conference, meetings, and events destination according to the “Country – and City – Rankings for 2022”, that was released by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) in May. The Greek capital gained eight places in 2022 compared to 2019, as it hosted 109 in-person conferences with 40,000 participants that generated a total of 87 milliion euros in revenues.

This comes as a recognition of the City of Athens' long-term tourism strategy through the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency which promotes Athens as a MICE destination, claiming conferences and events and strengthening the local economy.

According to the ICCA report, each delegate spends 2,162 euros, which is four times higher than the average spending of leisure travelers in Athens.

ICCA released its annual report during IMEX 2023 the world-leading tradeshow of the meetings and events industry that took place in Frankfurt, Germany, between May 23-25. During IMEX, ADDMA held over 50 B2B meetings, participated in educational programs and organized networking events as a member of the Greek Meetings Alliance.

 Following ΙMEX Frankfurt 2023, ADDMA organized a fam trip to Athens for MICE professionals from the North American market.
