Student associations
Sports
International students live the academic life just like the domestic students and they enroll in various cultural and sport activities offered by the Universities. Most Universities operate Sports Centers providing physical exercise programs and activities for University students, at no cost for them. Students can participate in the different programs and athletic departments, thus making use of their free time, organize their activities and have a better quality of life. Among the usual activities offered are: Tennis, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Swimming, Dancing, Aerobics, etc. Students can also form teams that are representative of their Departments or the University and take part in internal, inter-university and international student championships, during the academic year.
Cultural Groups
Most Universities have Students' Cultural Society Clubs aiming at supporting and promoting the artistic activities of their students and constitute a place of collective expression and creativity. There is a variety of groups in a cultural society, like theatre, dance, cinema, photography, fine arts, music, chess, etc. The cultural groups and the students frequently organize events in which the work of the participants is presented to the public. These events can be theatrical plays, music concerts, chess competitions, art exhibitions and many more.
Student Unions
Every department of the university has a corresponding Student Union and all students belonging to the department have the right to register as members. The main objective of a student union is to solve students' problems that can either be related to academic life or have a general political and social nature. Furthermore, Student Unions organize and support numerous activities such as political debates, educational lectures, cultural and artistic events, conferences, demonstrations, etc. Every year in early spring the Student Elections take place nationwide, during which students vote for their representatives.
