With 300 days of sunshine a year, Athens is the ideal city to visit with children. It combines stunning archaeological sites, museums and parks with amazing sandy beaches, just a few kilometres away from the centre.
Enjoy a bicycle ride through a large part of the city’s historic centre, along the promenade, following the pedestrianised route which starts at the Temple of Olympian Zeus and ends in Gazi, via Dionysiou Areopagitou, Apostolou Pavlou and Ermou Streets.
Check out the city’s open spaces where you can enjoy a picnic or head to one of the brand new free playgrounds managed by the City of Athens, which have been refurbished to high standards.
Visit Hellenic Children’s Museum: More of an interactive learning space full of activities that thrill kids, this museum is housed on the ground floor of the landmark Athens Conservatory building and includes a bubble area, a large shopping and kitchen play area, a science room focusing on geometry, the human body and nutrition, an art room, a soft play room for younger children, an experience of life a couple of generations ago, and much more.
