Greek Meetings Alliance: A strong partnership for the promotion of MICE tourism

This is Athens-Convention & Visitors Bureau (This is Athens-CVB), the Hellenic Association of Professional Congress Organizers & Destination Event Specialists (HAPCO & DES) and the Thessaloniki Convention Bureau (TCB) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation focusing on the promotion of Greece’s MICE tourism sector.

The Memorandum was signed by TCB President Yiannis Aslanis, HAPCO & DES President Sissi Lygnou and ADDMA CEO Epaminondas Mousios during a special event that was held at the Athens Concert Hall on October 25.

The three organizations joined forces two years ago - amid the Covid-19 pandemic – with the launch of the Greek Meetings Alliance, an initiative aiming to support the country’s conference, meetings and events industry.

“Through this dynamic partnership we aspire to further enhance Athens’ position in the global MICE tourism market,” Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis said during the event.

The event also included a panel discussion on the future of MICE tourism between IMEX Group Chairman Ray Bloom, International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) CEO Senthil Gopinath and GTP (Greek Travel Pages) CEO Maria Theofanopoulou.

Deputy Tourism Minister Sofia Zacharaki and Deputy Governor οf Tourism, Region of Central Macedonia, Alexandros Thanos also spoke at the event.

 

* The Greek Meetings Alliance was presented as part of the "Development and Promotion of the Tourism and Cultural Identity of Athens in the post-CoVid era" program/ Sub-project 1.
