The Owl Screenwriting Workshop kicks off in Athens

Ten Greek and foreign professional film and television screenwriters gathered in Athens earlier in November to participate in the first phase of The Owl Screenwriting Workshop, which is organized by the City of Athens Film Office.

Held from November 7-10, The Owl offered participants the opportunity to discuss their projects as well as to participate in masterclasses, panel discussions and one-to-one script meetings with 11 top experts from the international film and TV industry. The Owl’s screenwriters also toured some of Athens’ landmark sites and searched for locations to film their projects.

Organized for a second year, The Owl offers valuable know-how and networking opportunities to screenwriters who have already achieved early-career success and have begun storytelling that can be adapted to be filmed in Athens and Greece. The workshop also aims to promote Athens as an ideal destination for film and TV productions.

Τhe second phase of the workshop, where participants will receive additional mentorship, will be held remotely in February 2024. The third leg of the workshop in Autumn 2024, will circle back to Athens where screenwriters will have a final session with their mentors on how to  pitch their projects.
