The Semi-Finals of the International Emmy Awards to be held in Athens with the support of the Athens Film Office and Nova

The Athens Film Office of the City of Athens and Nova have been invited to host the Semi-Final selection process for two categories of the International Emmy Awards.

The City of Athens and Nova will partner to form juries that will meet in Athens next September when they choose the nominees for two categories of the International Emmys. The event will include press conferences, visits to cultural monuments of Athens, and a glamorous gala.

The International Academy travels every summer, from June to September, to over 25 judging sites for Semi-Final Judging events. Semi-Final rounds determine the International Emmy Award Nominees for the year. They are not only a crucial step in the judging process, but also a great networking opportunity for the Host and the Jurors invited to participate in the competition.

The Greek and international members of the two juries will include professionals from the television and film industry, cultural producers, and the creative industries. As stipulated by the regulations of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the membership of the two committees will be known only after the completion of the evaluation process that determines the nominees for the International Emmy Awards.

This year, the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences chose Athens to host the meeting of top professionals of the entertainment industry. Nova joined forces with the City of Athens to support the selection procedures and the gala that traditionally completes the work of the judges.

The partnership supports the continued success of Athens as a film destination. The city has recently become a setting for many large-scale film and television productions with world-renowned stars, while Greece continues to build a position at the heart of film and television production in part by showcasing the value of partnerships between international players and public organizations.

Mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis, said: "The evolution of the film industry is a strategic goal for all of Athens. The success of the Athens Film Office, established in April 2020, has put Athens on the international map by servicing dozens of foreign productions, creating new jobs, and providing benefits for the city's businesses. We are continuing these initiatives to further promote Athens and we are very happy that the City of Athens will host the International Emmys Semi-final Judging event this September."

The CEO of Nova Media, Kiki Silvestriadou, said: “We are proud that United Group has supported the undertaking of this premier event by Nova. Our participation in the nomination process for the International Emmy Awards is an important recognition of our contribution to the promotion of high-level artistic creation, as well as our experience in the production of quality television content with high standards. Nova is evolving beyond the boundaries of Telecommunications and Technology and connecting Greece with the international artistic community, inviting talented artists and producers to Athens. We look forward to hosting top professionals in film and television production and we are happy to have the City of Athens as a valuable partner in the success of this unique event."
