City of Athens holds Christmas tree lighting ceremony – photo report by Xinhua
The City of Athens welcomed the holiday season on November 23, with a special tree lighting ceremony at central Syntagma Square. The online edition of Xinhua, China’s state news agency, has published a photo report with the event's highlights.
Thousands of Athenians and visitors attended the tree lighting ceremony at Syntagma Square, which was transformed into a large music stage where talented performers presented beloved Christmas songs, setting the rhythm for the festive season.
The City of Athens’ 17-meter Christmas tree has been decorated with a total of 24,000 LED lights and hundreds of beautiful ornaments.
