Deutsche Welle (DW) explores Elefsina’s past and present mysteries in an article that was published on its website right before the city's launch as a European Capital of Culture for 2023.

Elefsina is a small coastal city located 20km west of Athens’ center. As one of the three European Capitals of Culture for 2023, Elefsina will soon launch a diverse program of 465 cultural events in 30 different locations. Titled “Mysteries of Transition”, the program will bring together 192 Greek and 137 international artists. The concept is built on three thematic pillars: people/society, environment, and labor.
