The BBC spotlights Maria Callas in Athens
For the 100th anniversary of the birth of Maria Callas, BBC Journalist Zeinab Badawi was in Athens to explore the life of the divine opera singer and the enduring passion of audiences around the world.
In a documentary titled, “Callas at 100: This is the stuff legends are made of,” Badawi travels through Athens to trace the personality and legacy of La Divina through interviews of representatives of local cultural organizations, including the newly established Maria Callas Museum of the City of Athens and the Olympia City Music Theater “Maria Callas” where the singer gave her first public performance.
The video is part a BBC series titled “Take me to the opera.”
