Athens Named World's Leading Cultural City Destination for 2022
Athens has received the title of the World's Leading Cultural City Destination at the World Travel Awards 2022.
It is Athens’ first international distinction in this significant competition among other landmark cities that competed in the same category, namely New York, London, Paris, Rome, Beijing and Rio de Janeiro.
The award was received by ADDMA CEO Epameinondas Mousios during the World Travel Awards Grand Final Gala Ceremony 2022 that took place in Muscat, Oman, on November 12.
“We are proud of Athens’ first global distinction at the World Travel Awards, which proves that the City of Athens’ long-term strategy for the city’s sustainable development - carried out through ADDMA - bears fruit”, he said.
The award follows Athens’ double win at the World Travel Awards Europe earlier in October. The city was named “Europe's Leading Cultural City Destination 2022” while This is Athens-Convention & Visitors Bureau received the “Europe's Leading City Tourist Board” title for 2022.
